Goodbye old friends
My friends list just got a lot smaller. I decided to finally do a friends cut after all this time. I still kept a few who I should probably delete since the last time they updated was back in 2012 and then there are some that have just never bothered to interact regardless of me trying with them. I don't know why people do that. They never comment on your journal yet the expect you to on theirs. The whole point of adding people to your friends list is to interact and actually be friends.

I cut people who haven’t updated since 2011 or people who abandon their journals for dreamwidth and were not going to make a return to livejournal. It was bittersweet because I felt I was just holding onto those journals for old memory sake since some of them I had known since I was 19. Hopefully I didn't cut anyone I didn't mean too. I tried very careful when I went down the line.

It's good to have a clearout now and then, I definitely have some people on my flist who haven't updated for four or five years who I should probably delete but I used to be good friends with most of them (some I'm still in contact with/still friends with, it's just that now they use facebook or twitter instead) and I feel weird about removing them! If they haven't been on LJ in years and years it's unlikely they'd get offended lol but still... friends cuts are awkward!

Yeah, I know what you mean lol. You always have that thought of, "what if they return?" When I was going through the cut, I actually had a few instances of, Oh, I remember this person. That sounds horrible but they had not updated in such a long time I had forgotten. Usually after a year, especially even more i'm just like, yeah I doubt they're coming back.
